Brian P. Perry, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Perry graduated from Saint John’s University in 1988 with Cum Laude honors. He attended medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he was a member of the Medical Honorary Associations, Alpha Omega Alpha. He published his first scientific paper about otitis media in children while in Nebraska. He was awarded the Waldron Cassidy Award in Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery, and was an Honor Graduate.
He did his residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Duke University. He published many research articles, primarily focusing on the neurophysiology of the inner ear. He was awarded the Association for Research in Otolaryngology Travel Award in 1996. While there he wrote numerous book chapters, and several articles on the field of otology and neurotology. He subsequently developed his interest in pediatric disorders of hearing and balance. Dr. Perry was given the Barry J. Anson Memorial Teaching Award in 1999.
Since his fellowship, Dr. Perry has been in private practice in San Antonio, as well as being a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center. His research interests involve the neurophysiology of the vestibular system and hereditary hearing losses. He began an educational program entitled “Young Ears” in the San Antonio Independent School District (Grades K-3). He has presented at numerous scientific meetings both nationally and internationally, is a member of a variety of medical societies, and continues to publish articles in the fields of genetics and otology.
